Professional Development

Professional development is the process of enhancing staff skills and competencies needed to produce outstanding educational results for students. In designing professional development, the "client" must have a voice in the process from the start.

There are six (6) models on how job embedded professional development can be delivered.

1. Professional Study Team:
   Department or team addresses issues in teaching and learning. 
2. Coaching, Mentoring or Supervising:
   One-on-one learning opportunities focused on teaching practices. 
3. Research:
   Data-driven evaluation of issues about teaching practices and student learning. 
4. Process or Product:
   Develop materials, programs and products, which address teaching and student learning. 
5. Independent Study:
   Designed by participants to align with district goals. 
6. Workshop or Conferences; Cooperative Inservice
   Large group of participants to acquire knowledge or skills about classroom practice.
